We at Wadhurst Band are very pleased to welcome a new addition to our band family, as Drum and Bass duo, Suzanne Healy-Smith and Bennet Smith became proud parents to a baby boy on the 02/08/22. Mum, Dad and baby are doing well and they're enjoying time at home as a new family.
Suzanne’s last appearance with the band for a little while was at Algy’s Jubilee concert, but hopefully she’ll be back very soon and their little one will follow in Mum and Dad’s footsteps and start music making before too long.
And that's not all!
Shortly after our Jubilee concert and a few days before the arrival of baby Drum and Bass, an engagement was announced between David Healy, our former Musical Director and player of many instruments, and our Baritone player Lauren Cook. Although both now live in Milton Keynes, they return regularly to support and play with the band.
We wish them all many congratulations and best wishes for the future!
Saturday 9th July saw our summer concert, where we celebrated our founder, Algy Hoare’s 65th Jubilee. It was a wonderful evening of music making and we enjoyed entertaining our loyal supporters and new friends.
Of course, being a celebration, we couldn't encourage a party atmosphere without a glass of fizz and a slice of cake during the interval.
As some of you are aware, this concert had a surprise twist. Although the concert was opened by Algy Hoare BEM, Alan Finemore, Kate Luff and David Healy also took to the baton and shared Algy's celebration. We would like to thank all 4 conductors for their hard work - what a great concert it was!
On Saturday 30th April 2022, Wadhurst Brass Band held their Spring Concert in the Commemoration Hall, in Wadhurst. This was our 2nd concert since Covid and we loved every minute of it! We would like to thank everyone who came and supported us, we are thrilled to be back performing again and we hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did.
Special thanks goes to Denise Beedell for her continued hard work behind the scenes, Merlin Beedell for the lighting and photography and the WBB Committee for organising another successful concert.
On the 5th September 2020, band members Suzanne Healy and Bennet Smith got married in between the 1st and 2nd lockdown. Finally, on Saturday 2nd April 2022, they were able to celebrate their marriage with us and their friends and family who were unable to attend in 2020 due to the Covid restrictions.
It was an absolute privilege to celebrate the marriage of our dear "Drum and Bass" duo. Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!
VIRTUAL VIDEO FUN!
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, WBB have been unable to continue rehearsals throughout 2020. Instead, they have been busy recording a variety of Virtual Performances. If you missed any of their videos, click on the pieces below.
